The Oakland Press gets it

12.18.2008 by Kevin Creighton

What do you do when the deer now have guns?

Get into the ammunition business.

The face of journalism is changing dramatically and newspapers are in the vanguard of this trend.

To that end, today we announce the formation of The Oakland Press Institute for Citizen Journalism and invite readers to attend our classes.

The press needs to learn the same hard rules that photographers are trying to learn: Digital media empowers people to tell their stories, and nowadays the only thing that shooters and writers have over everybody else is their experience. And it's that experience that is now valuable to others, not the tools they use or the platform which which they broadcast.

I like warmth on the key, but not too much. A lot of what you see in my work is color shifts due to time. The inkjet guy said archival. B******t. I started getting shifts after just 175 years. Boy, I miss Kodachrome.

Don't we all, Rembrandt, don't we all...

Lost in translation

Goodbye Ken

And now he's gone. But his pictures will live on forever.
