Seafood or seabird ?

A friend of mine was one of the first to be invited to Squidoo, and like most people, I thought it looked intriguing.

But not intriguing enough to make my own "lens". And now Michael Arrington is poking at the carcass of Squidoo to see if there's life in it. I'm not as down on Seth as he is because of Squidoo's, um, underwhelming performance, as no one bats 1.000. But it may be the first big Web2.0 bubble to burst.

“Seafood or seabird ?”

  1. Blogger Exurban Jon Says:

Hey, Squidoo got me results! Last week I received my first financial credit for my word-of-mouth lens. The page has been up for six months and I've earned $0.05, baby! If I place that in a average-growth mutual fund (12%), by the time I'm 70 it will be $1.50. I'm well on my way to becoming a Web 2.0 millionaire!

  2. Blogger Heath Says:

We wanted to make a point with our first pay statament: (1) We're making money, and (2) We're sharing it with lensmasters.

Yes, as young as we are, we're not minting millionaires yet, but we're still making good on our promise.

_And_, how much you make is dependent on how well your lenses are performing. If people click on your links, follow your advicem and act on your ideas, you can do better. Your lenses are as good as you are.

Full disclosure: I work for Squidoo.
